Pergressors

Pergressors are humans who possess the unique ability to Step in one door and out a different door, usually on a different planet. Pergressors are overwhelmingly female, but other pergressors show no particular predisposition toward greater or lesser talent. Stepping is the only known form of reliable teleportation in the Ingressa universe. As a result, pergressors are highly regarded across the metasociety, not because of any inherent moral virtue, but because anyone with any understanding of the Ingressa knows that life as it exists would be impossible without them.
